As of Nov. 3, 2026, he holds the record for PokerGO Tour (PGT) titles with 18 (Card Player). He has four WSOP bracelets (WSOP.com) and more than $34.1 million in career live cashes (Card Player). His biggest cash is $2,594,000, for winning the $100,000 Triton Pot-Limit Omaha Main Event at WSOP Paradise in December 2025. Online, he won a 2023 WSOP.com bracelet under the screen name "ApesSonIMHO." His full name, as listed on WSOP.com, is Sam Wolcott Soverel.
Who Is Sam Soverel?
Soverel is a Florida native (Casino City Times). Card Player called him "the current title king of the PokerGO Studio" on Nov. 3, 2026, and gave his age as 38. He plays both no-limit hold'em and pot-limit Omaha at the highest buy-ins. He is also a regular in live high-stakes cash games.
He is a live player at heart. After his second bracelet in 2023, he said: "I much prefer live. I hadn't played online since late-2020... Live's fun. It's more social. It's way better to me." Asked what sets him apart in high rollers, he gave a famously simple answer: "I just play a lot of them." (Casino City Times)

The PokerGO Tour Record
No player has won more PokerGO Tour titles. On Nov. 2, 2026, Soverel beat a 61-entry field in PGT Sprint Event #5, a $10,500 no-limit hold'em event, for $195,200. Card Player called it a "record-extending" 18th PGT title, coming just a month after his 17th.
It was his fifth PGT-qualified win of the 2026 season. He has won more than $1.7 million across 22 cashes on the tour this year, and the win moved him into the top ten of the PGT season rankings (Card Player, Nov. 3, 2026).
The final hand was a classic big-blind shove. Soverel moved all in with 8♦ 7♦ against David Coleman's A♥ 10♠, and a 7♠ on the river gave him a pair of sevens and the title (Card Player).
Studio events at PokerGO draw small, elite fields. Winning that often takes both skill and serious volume. Soverel brings both.
Four WSOP Bracelets
WSOP.com lists Soverel with four bracelets and $11,712,881 in WSOP earnings (checked Nov. 3, 2026). The ones we could document:
- 2016: His first bracelet, in a $1,000 Pot-Limit Omaha event (Casino City Times).
- 2023: WSOP Online Event #13, the $5,300 No-Limit Hold'em High Roller Championship. Playing as "ApesSonIMHO," he beat 408 entries and Hungary's Gergely Kulcsar heads-up for $393,516 (Casino City Times).
- December 2025: Event #3, the $100,000 Triton Pot-Limit Omaha Main Event at WSOP Paradise in the Bahamas, for $2,594,000. WSOP.com lists it as his fourth bracelet.
We could not confirm the details of his third bracelet in the sources we checked, so we've left it out rather than guess.

High-Roller Results and Live Earnings
Soverel's résumé is built on high rollers. His Triton PLO win is the biggest score of his career. His earlier WSOP near-misses tell the same story. Before his 2023 win, he had made eight WSOP final tables, and four of them came in events with buy-ins of $50,000 or more (Casino City Times).
Career numbers, with as-of dates:
- Card Player: "over $34.1 million in career cashes" (Nov. 3, 2026).
- WSOP.com: $11,712,881 in WSOP-only earnings, with 25 final tables and 73 cashes (checked Nov. 3, 2026).

What Players Can Learn From Him
We won't invent a "Soverel system." His own words point to the lesson: he plays a lot. Volume against tough fields, in more than one game, builds experience you can't fake. He is comfortable in both hold'em and Omaha, and his recent titles span both. Our PLO strategy guide is a good place to start on Omaha. For a learning player, that's a reminder to study more than one format and to keep showing up.
